Terms of service
The short version: we write buying guides and point to products sold by other companies. Read our opinions, make your own decision, and buy from the merchant under their terms.
Agreeing to these terms
By using themodernpethome.com (the "site") you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site. The site is operated by Think X Design Media, based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada ("we", "us").
What the site is
The site publishes buying guides about pet furniture and gear. The guides are our opinions, based on published specifications, owner reviews and our own research. They are general information, not professional advice. Nothing here is veterinary, behavioural, safety or legal advice. If your pet has a health or behaviour problem, talk to a vet or a qualified trainer.
We don't sell anything
We don't sell, ship or service any product mentioned on the site. When you click through to a merchant, you are dealing with that merchant. The price, availability, shipping, returns, warranty and customer service are theirs, under their terms. If something goes wrong with an order, the merchant is who to contact.
Affiliate links
Some links on the site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Our affiliate disclosure explains how that works and why it doesn't decide what we recommend.
Accuracy
We work to keep the guides accurate, and every product we list has its known flaw stated. But products change, prices move, and manufacturers revise specs without telling anyone. Check the merchant's current listing before you buy. Price bands on the site are approximate and in US dollars unless we say otherwise. If you spot something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
No warranties
The site is provided "as is". We make no warranty that the information is complete, current or right for your home, your pet or your situation, or that any product will perform the way a guide describes. How a product holds up depends on the animal using it.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, from relying on anything published on it, or from any product or service you buy from a third party after visiting it. That includes injury to a person or an animal, property damage, and financial loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited.
Email list
If you subscribe, we'll email you occasionally about the guides. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and the privacy policy explains what we store. We follow Canada's anti-spam law: we only email people who asked to hear from us.
Our content
The text, layout and images on the site belong to us or are used with permission. You're welcome to link to any page, quote a short passage with credit, and save our pins. Please don't republish whole guides, scrape the site, or present our work as your own. Product names and brands belong to their owners; mentioning them doesn't mean they endorse us.
Using the site fairly
Don't try to break the site, interfere with how it works, submit other people's email addresses to the signup form, or use automated tools to inflate clicks or signups. We may block access for anyone who does.
Links to other sites
The site links to merchants and other third parties. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, their practices or their privacy policies.
Changes
We may update these terms as the site changes. The date below shows the latest version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of British Columbia.
